THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU COME

Answers To Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Show duration averages 2.5 hours, including one 15 minute intermission. Contact the Box Office for approximate duration times.
  2. As a courtesy to patrons and performers alike, please stay at your seat at the end of the show until the houselights have come up.
  3. Please refrain from taking photographs or using recording devices or cell phones during the performance.
  4. Latecomers will not be seated until an appropriate interval.
  5. As a courtesy to other theatregoers, children under the age of five will not be allowed in the theatre.
  6. The theatre is climate controlled - heated in the winter and air conditioned in the summer. Dress comfortably for theatre; clothing suitable for a nice restaurant is appropriate.
  7. Although your tickets may appear non-sequential (for example, 5-7), the seats are, in fact, adjacent.

Pre-Order Your Beverages

A full service bar, as well as a candy and gift shop, are located in the lobby of each theatre and are open one hour prior to curtain and during intermission. Patrons may pre-order intermission cocktails before the show. Your order will be waiting in the lobby.

Members’ Lounge

Goodspeed Members may enjoy intermission drinks and view the Connecticut River in the Libby Metzger Kaye Members’ Lounge. This unique space provides an example of what an actors’ theatre lounge may have looked like in the 19th century, and has been made available for the enjoyment of our Members. To use the Members’ Lounge, please see our bartenders before the show. To become a member, please call the Box Office at (860) 873-8668.

Special Services

Goodspeed provides elevator service to the orchestra level of the Opera House. To avoid the steps in front of the theatre, please ask for a House Manager when you arrive. He or she will direct you to our elevator at street level outside the building. Handicapped parking is located in front of the Gelston House.

The theatre is also equipped with a brand-new Sennheiser infrared hearing system to assist hearing-impaired patrons through the generosity of Goodspeed Member Carol Sirot. This system can be used independently or in conjunction with patrons’ normal hearing aids. The devices are available free of charge at the Box Office.

If you require special assistance of any kind (for example, to remove a theatre seat to accommodate a wheelchair, early admittance to the theatre, or assistance in getting to your seats), please inform the Box Office when you purchase tickets. Please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before the curtain so our staff may comfortably assist you to your seats.
