DANIEL ZAITCHIK (Music, Book, and Lyrics) is a composer-playwright, singer-songwriter, actor, and pianist. He is the recipient of the 2017 Kleban Prize for most promising musical theatre lyricist. His stage works include Picnic at Hanging Rock (book/music/lyrics), Darling Grenadine (book/music/lyrics), Ula (book/music/lyrics), and Suprema (with playwright Jordan Harrison). Zaitchik’s musicals have been selected three times for development at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s National Music Theater Conference. His work has also been developed at Lincoln Center Theater, Ars Nova, New Dramatists, The Johnny Mercer Writers Colony, Goodspeed’s Festival of New Musicals, and others. As a singer-songwriter, Zaitchik has played NYC/LA venues including Joe's Pub, 54 Below, Rockwood Music Hall, and The Bootleg Theater. He was the frontman and writer for the 11-piece, multi-voiced band Blue Bottle Collection. His recording projects include the concept album Summer of the Soda Fountain Girls (with Blue Bottle Collection) and Bad Dancer. As an actor, Zaitchik has worked at Playwrights Horizons, Manhattan Theater Club, Williamstown Theater Festival, Barrington Stage, Long Wharf Theatre, and others. Honors include the Ester B. Kahn Career Entry Award from Boston University, the Frederick Loewe Award from New Dramatists (for Suprema), and the Georgia Bogarduz Holof Lyricist Award (for Picnic at Hanging Rock.) Up next: Picnic at Hanging Rock at Princeton University and a new solo musical for the 2018 edition of Premiere’s Inner Voices in NYC. KRISTIN HANGGI (Director) is best-known for the international smash-hit Rock of Ages (five Tony Award nominations, including Best Direction of a Musical) She directed multiple productions, including Broadway, West End, Australia, Toronto, and Las Vegas. Other stage productions include Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theater; the original Los Angeles and Off-Broadway productions of the pop opera bare (Ovation Award for Best Musical, LA Weekly Award for Best Musical); Pussycat Dolls Live at the Roxy with Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera, and Charlize Theron; Atlantic Theater’s Pirate La Dee Da (Alliance Award); Catch the Fish by Jonathan Caren (New York Fringe Festival Winner Best Play); Los Angeles premiere of Terrence McNally’s Corpus Christi (Ticketholder Award - Best Production and Best Director); and Timothy McNeil’s Crane, Mississippi (LA Times Critic’s Choice, Backstage West Critic’s Pick.) As a film director, Kristin recently directed Naomi & Ely's No Kiss List, an adaption of Rachel Cohn and David Levithan's popular novel of the same name, starring Victoria Justice. She made her feature directorial debut in 2013 with the indie Grantham & Rose, starring Jake T. Austin and Marla Gibbs. For television, Ms. Hanggi adapted and directed the hit book series Dear Dumb Diary into a musical movie under Executive Producer Jerry Zucker for Walden Media. Kristin graduated with her Masters from USC after receiving her Bachelors from UCLA in Theater. JAY HILTON (Sound Design) is pleased to continue his long association with Goodspeed Musicals and to be working with director Gabriel Barre once again, along with the rest of this talented creative team. Jay has designed countless productions at both The Terris Theatre and The Goodspeed in East Haddam. His work has also been heard on Broadway, National Tours, and at Regional Theatres from coast to coast. In addition to being Goodspeed’s Resident Sound Designer, Jay serves as their Audio Supervisor. He and his wife, Goodspeed Line Producer Donna Lynn Hilton, make their home (and garden) in Hadlyme, Connecticut. |
